Gatwick Airport Station Stakeholder Network Rail

CASE STUDY

Elm Site Services were contracted to deliver the re-surfacing of all 7 (seven) platforms at Gatwick Airport Station under CECA Form of Contract, ICC Target Cost Version.

This was delivered under tight time (a series of limited 27 hour possessions) and general working constraints, on time and within budget. The works included for a full condition & station dimensional survey and report, concrete planing and removal of all existing platform finishes, removal of all arisings, preparation works, tarmac surfacing, localised brickwork repairs to track walls, casting of concrete levelling plinths to facilitate new lighting and communication columns, platform manifestations etc.

All surfaces had to be hand laid because it was impossible to transport tarmac spreading machines on and off the platforms.

Concrete planers, dumpers, rollers and all materials were transported from platform to platform via a series of temporary polystyrene bridges.
